EMPLOYMENT PERMIT ROUTES
Ireland has different Employment Permit routes. Eligibility depends on the employer, occupation, remuneration, candidate and purpose of the employment.
For eligible highly skilled occupations and qualifying job offers that meet the applicable requirements.
For a broad range of eligible occupations that are not excluded under the employment permit system.
For eligible non-EEA professionals contributing to sporting or cultural activities in Ireland.
May include professional sports roles, work riders, eligible racing occupations, coaches, specialist sporting roles and qualifying cultural activities. Yard Staff is not automatically eligible.For qualifying dependants, recognised partners or spouses connected to eligible primary permit holders or researchers.
Family residence permission and work authorisation are related but separate matters.For qualifying senior management, key personnel or trainees transferring to a connected Irish entity.
For qualifying employees of a foreign contractor providing services under an eligible contract with an Irish entity.
For certain previous permit holders who fell out of the system through no fault of their own or in other eligible circumstances.
For eligible full-time students enrolled outside Ireland undertaking relevant work experience.
For eligible employment arising under prescribed reciprocal or international agreements involving Ireland.
